Call for Papers Special Issue of Computer Communications on Enterprise Networks Guest Editors: Prof. Mohammed Atiquzzaman, University of Dayton Dr. Vijay Bhagavath, AT&T Laboratories Papers are solicited for a special issue of Computer Communications on Enterprise Networks to be published in the second quarter of 1999. The recent trend in many organizations has been to rearrange the hardware, software, and communications capabilities into an enterprise-wide networked architecture. Connecting the computing and communications equipment over a coroporate wide network has given rise to new challenges and research issues in Enterprise Networking which need to te addressed for successful operation of enterprise networks. The purpose of this special issue is to survey the state of the art in the performance evaluation, management and services of Enterprise Networks. Topics of interest to this issue include (but not limited to): - innovative architectural solutions, case-studies, and practical experiences with implementing end-to-end IP-based enterprise networks, - performance evaluation and network management, - IP-based services delivery architectures (extranets) over xDSL, cable modems, DBS, broadband PCS, etc, - traffic engineering, performance analysis and network management issues with intranets, - secure and authenticated communication with corporate intranets over public networks using technologies such as IPSEC, firewall gateways, IP or PPP layer tunnels, etc. - emerging internetworking technologies and protocol suites, - support of IP telephony within the enterprise, - IP-based multimedia services and applications delivery within enterprise networks, - thin clients (e.g., JAVA-based (TM)) for networked computing applications. - distributed software agent technologies applied to enterprise networks. Authors should send postscript copies of their papers (not to exceed 30 double spaced pages) by email to one of the guest editors by the deadline given below. Authors should follow the author's guidelines for paper submission of Computer Communications.
